• Be the liaison betwee the College of Engineering and the council members and NAESC and the council members

• Represent Engineers’ Council at the regional and national conferences for NAESC

• Present the MacQuigg Award at the Annual Engineering Faculty Dinner and perform any of the necessary items for the presentation, ie the speech, the announcement of the award voting and what the award is in early-mid February

• Run the meetings

  • Tracks progress of various organizational projects, making sure that they stay on course (EWeek, Expo, Community Service Project, etc.).
  • Runs officer training.
  • Runs meetings in absence of President.
  • Acts as Parliamentarian (trains officers and representatives in rules of order and makes sure that they are followed).

  • keeps track of attendance at meetings and representative training
  • checks mail regularly

The Director of Computers has many duties most of which need to be done only rarely. His/her primary purpose is to facilitate the smooth workings of Engineers' Council by providing IT soulutions where applicable. This is best done by mantaining the existing infrastructure and leaving office having made some improvement to the system for the future benefit of Engineers' Council (or the incoming computer chair). A candidate for this position should be well versed in Debian GNU/Linux (specifically, Apache and MySQL) system administration and have a passable knowledge of Perl and PHP. Below are listed general guidelines of what is expected of the Director of Computers.

  • As studentorg.eng.ohio-state.edu server admin he/she should maintain the server for use by Engineers' Council and member organizations. Duties include:
    • adding new users
    • updating installed packages, installing user requested packages
    • responding to server down time
    • keep configuration up to date (especially email aliases (for both Engineers' Council officers and for member organizations)).
  • As Engineers' Council webmaster he/she is expected to:
    • Post meeting times/places to the website every quarter
    • Assist Secretary in posting meeting minutes
    • Update officer names after elections
    • Manage MacQuigg Award voting and result tallying
    • Work with the Expo committee to make web registration run smoothly.
    • Manage the ecofficers and ecreps mailing lists and make sure people get the e-mails they need.
  • As Director of Computers in general one should undertake some special project(s) to improve one of the above aspects of the job. The number and size of the projects are left up one's descression. Examples of special projects include:
    • Hardware updates
    • Improve or rework Engineers' Council website or some part thereof
      • Expo & registration system
      • MacQuigg Award voting system
      • Engineers' Week Website
    • Write documentation on common procedures

The social chair is responsible for putting together social activities for the council. The social chair is also responsible for getting the pizza and soda for e-council meetings.
